AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH
*headdesk*headdesk*headdesk*headdesk*

*siiiiiiiiigh*
Wouldn't you know it. Trying out a new recipe. Interesting, not one I've tried before. Lots of tomatilloes, pickled jalapeno peppers, cilantro, and cubed pork, all cooking slowly in a Dutch oven at 300 degrees for about 3 hours. Next step, remove the pork when tender and blend the tomatilloes etc into a sauce. All 5 cups of it. At 300 degrees. In the blender... the lid of which apparently does not fit on tight enough to hold in that much pressure, particularly when the rubber lid is about 150 degrees warmer than usual.
Yep, you get the picture.
ALL over me, the kitchen, the wall, the microwave, on the cabinets, IN the cabinets, spattered all over the produce atop the microwave and seeping into the brand-new cookbook....
Cleaning up the mess revealed just how spicy those jalapenos are and just how many little cuts and burns I have on my hands from preparing the dish to begin with. *mutter* Rick Bayless, you better make good on your promise that this is a "delicious" dish.
And then I thought I'd just put in the white beans and let it heat through while I clean up. Open the can and stare.... goop. It's GOOP! Read the label.. precooked with pork! ugh... no beautiful big fat white beans... just pale mush. #%P(*Y!Q#YP$@#P(**PY$@Y#OU@T#Y!@#T*&P(P@#!*&Y*$Y#!@(PY*$
Grrrr...
It seems, if I want lunch this week, I'm going to have to go out today and get some REAL beans. And *that* means I'll have to put on makeup, run goop through my hair, and otherwise make myself look presentable when I'd really rather just stay at home in my PJ's with my hair looking like a q-tip run amok. All for a couple cans of beans.
And, oh yes, in case you were wondering, it *is* that time of the month... again.
*sigh*
I suppose I could hold out and drop by the store on my way from work and pick up the beans. But, I really want to walk to work more and I hate to take the car tomorrow.
You know... it really is nice out today. The wind's died down and the sun is shining brightly. A drive wouldn't be too bad, today.
Hmmm... I could, I suppose, walk to the health-food store. It is really nice out. About 45 minutes there and back if I wind through the quieter streets, that would be good exercise. And I really *do* think up more story ideas when I'm out for a walk. Just have to make sure I take pen and paper with me.
OH! And I do need more of that face soap stuff I can only get there.
And, you know, it is a health food store, no one else there will have makeup on either.
Okay. Well, let me just finish up my coffee and have a couple more fig newtons and I'll go.
Hmmm... sun looks really bright. This'll be nice.
